₹1,000 keeps one government-school child like Priya learning for a month.
Priya’s school in Kosigi had no electricity, water, or toilets. Then SSF stepped in.

Across rural Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, lakhs of children attend government schools without clean water, working toilets, or basic books. Working in schools since 2019 and registered as a public charitable trust in 2025, we have transformed 400+ of those schools — and donors across India have made it possible.

The quality of a child's education should not depend on which school they could afford.
Students & Schools Foundation was born from one man's refusal to look away. Retired Inspector General of Police Mr. Shaik Mohammed Iqbal visited a government school in 2019 and found 180 children without clean water, working toilets, or electricity. After years of grassroots work in government schools, SSF was formally registered as a trust in 2025 (Trust Deed No. 124/2025) — and 400+ schools later, that work continues every single day.

We repair and rebuild classrooms, toilets, and clean water facilities in the lowest-funded government schools.

Smart boards, computers, and trained teachers bring quality digital education to under-served rural schools.

Nutrition programs, hygiene support, and health check-ups keep students healthy and ready to learn every day.

Textbooks, stationery, uniforms, and learning kits are provided to children who cannot afford the basics.

With 35+ years of public service across Andhra Pradesh, Shaik Mohammed Iqbal witnessed firsthand the systemic neglect of government school education. As an IPS officer and later an MLC, he used every platform available to advocate for change — until advocacy alone was no longer enough.
In 2019, he walked into a government school in rural AP and found 180 students without clean water, functional toilets, or electricity. That day, he founded Students & Schools Foundation with one conviction: that a child's future should never be determined by which school they could afford.
"Education is not charity — it is the most strategic investment a society can make. Every child in a government school carries the same potential as any child anywhere. They just need someone to believe in them."
— Shaik Mohammed Iqbal, Founder, SSFIndia’s Government Schools Are in Crisis
Over 250 million children attend government schools across India — yet most lack clean drinking water, functional toilets, and basic textbooks. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone, lakhs of children sit on broken floors in crumbling classrooms, with no electricity, no library, and no future in sight.
Since 2019, SSF has visited over 400 schools across 23 districts. What we found was heartbreaking — but also inspiring. Communities desperate for change. Teachers doing more with nothing. Children eager to learn.
That’s why we act. That’s why we don’t stop.
About us
Students & Schools Foundation was born from a lifetime of public service. After serving as Inspector General of Police and as a Member of the Legislative Council in Andhra Pradesh, Shaik Mohammed Iqbal saw firsthand the crisis facing government schools — crumbling infrastructure, untrained teachers, students dropping out before they could read.
In 2019, he founded SSF with a single conviction: that government school students deserve the same quality of education as anyone else. Today, SSF operates across 400+ schools in 23+ districts, reaching over 25,000 students with skills training, AI literacy, and systemic school transformation.
The foundation is now managed by Shaik Hyder Ali as Managing Trustee, bringing modern operational expertise and technology-first thinking to the mission his father started.
“Education is not charity — it is the most strategic investment a society can make. Every child in a government school carries the same potential as any child anywhere. They just need someone to believe in them.”
